Which is better borax or baking soda?

Borax is chemically different from baking soda , but the two products share many uses. One difference between baking soda and Borax is that, while baking soda is necessary for many cooking recipes, Borax is not suitable for consumption— do not eat Borax !!! This is why I prefer baking soda .
